👋Hi, I’m Zaibaa, a college student studying BTEC Business. I’m currently doing my work experience at Burne & Royce, and I’ve had the chance to see how they operate behind the scenes, from planning the customer journey to creating websites and marketing campaigns.

Let’s be honest, talking about contraception isn’t the easiest topic, but it matters. In the UK, there’s lots of ways to get contraception, and most of them are free and accessible if you know where to look.
Firstly, the NHS offers free contraception at health clinics, GP surgeries and even some pharmacies. That includes regular birth control pills and emergency contraception like the morning after pill. And the best part? It’s confidential, so you don’t need to worry about anyone else finding out. I’ve been looking through the Free Contraception Website which allows people in England and Wales order free contraception pills, and the morning after pill.
Clear, Simple Layout
Burne & Royce built the site using Wix, which is a website builder that makes sites look professional and clean. Using Wix meant we could create a site that’s easy to update, fast to load, and works well on both computers and phones. They made it simple for people to navigate, read, and order contraception without feeling confused or overwhelmed.
One of the first things I noticed was how straightforward the site is. When you open it, you’re greeted with clear options like “Order contraceptive pill” and “Order morning after pill” right at the top so there’s not too much text to read. This is important for people who might be unsure about what to do.
Also, the steps are explained in a simple way, you complete your details online, a clinician calls you, and then the pills are sent to your door. This is easy to follow, especially for someone doing it for the first time.
Easy to Understand Information
The website also has sections like “About the contraceptive pill” and “Other forms of contraception” that explains how pills work. This educational information is quite helpful for anyone who doesn’t know the facts about contraception. It feels designed for users, not just to sell a service.
The FAQ section is useful and answers questions like how much it costs (it’s free for people in England & Wales), who’s eligible, and whether you need to visit a GP or pharmacy. It breaks down a lot of questions people might be scared to ask.
Builds Trust With Users
On every page it’s clear the service is connected to the NHS, and that gives it more trust. The text says the contraception is “provided FREE by the NHS”, which helps people know it isn’t some random private company trying to take advantage of them.
At the bottom, it says the site was built by Burne & Royce, which is our marketing and web design agency that helps businesses improve their websites and online presence.
We at Burne & Royce focused on a couple things that make this website work:
User experience: Buttons are clear and easy to click, and the process flows logically.
Design: It’s clean, not overwhelming, and makes you trust the information.
Content: It’s written in normal English that’s easy to understand, not medical terminology.
Mobile friendly: The website works well on phones as well as computers, which is crucial since lots of people will be using it on their phones.
Near the bottom of the site you can see the service provided by Silverdale Pharmacy, within the General Pharmaceutical Council. The GPhC is the official organisation that regulates pharmacies in Great Britain and makes sure they follow safety standards.
Seeing a GPhC number is important because it shows the service is connected to a real, regulated pharmacy. It gives users more confidence that the contraceptive pills they’re ordering are safe.
Overall, Free Contraception Online does a good job of making access to contraception simple, fast, and understandable. The way Burne & Royce built and designed the site makes a big difference as everything is easy to follow and trustworthy, which is what you want for a health related website.
